Lessons of Pride and Prejudice

There is more than enough to be said about these two words. Pride: high opinion of one's self, proud of accomplishments and status within society. Prejudice : adverse judgement and opinion of something or someone without any knowledge of facts.
In the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen,  we as the readers see both words and the life lessons that associate with them. Everybody at some point has passed judgement on others, and has had judgement passed on them selves. In the beginning we see Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy having there opinion set on each other. To intertwined with their pride of who they are to allow themselves to let their guards down for one another. But also Mr. Bingley's sister played a part in them not being together until the end. Because of her jealousy of Elizabeth she gets her brother Charles Bingley who is involved with Elizabeth's sister Jane, to move back to London. With the whole roller coaster of feelings and emotions involved they manage to stay content with the outcome so far. Eventually things fall into place and happiness will ensue. Eventually both sisters Jane and Elizabeth get married. Jane and Mr. Bingley,  Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy all got their happy endings, despite facing the few set backs that came about while they were trying to be together. Sometimes all it just takes a little patience and understanding.

Even when it comes to relationships their will always be judgement passed because of jealousy, or simply because people do not agree with the relationship in general. If it makes a person happy there should be no reason for others to get involved. Everything happens for a reason and in life there will be obstacles you must get through in order to achieve and sense of pride. Just remember do not judge those around you because you do not their lives and have no idea exactly what kind of person they are. Misconceptions happen all the time simply because people allow for such things to occur.

Whether or not you want to it happens you pass judgement on someone's life and their relationships and others pass judgement on yours. The intention may not be there but it happens but just remember that everybody has a different story, and maybe you should take the time to know the person. Be the bigger person you will be and the pride you feel in your life with grow so much more.

Place and Time

 First Impression

This book takes place in the late 1800 hundreds to the early 1900hundreds. In the lands of Europe, a small town not to far away from London. The themes of the book would be just how judgmental people could be at that time in history, the expectations some had of others were far to extreme in some cases. Being able to love who you wanted was not a option in these times simply because you married to be comfortable. Now and days you marry for love and happiness, not only to be comfortable. People are still judgmental, but not like they use to be. By judgmental I mean how they look at a person and criticize them for being who they are and for the relationships and things they wanted. There is a whole assortment of poetic themes and some artistic themes as well about this book and it contents. I found this poem on line about Pride and Prejudice First Impressions http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2454892/1/First_Impressions_a_Poem. Everyday people are judgmental and presume to know you because of a first impression. Do not assume anything about a person until you actually know them. Because they just may surprise you and show you that there is more to them than meets the eye.

Conflicts with feelings

In the novel there is many conflicts between the characters that evolve. Some feelings of love, hate and confusion play a big part in the initiating all the commotion. Loving someone takes a lot to do especially if your uncertain of their feelings and if they are returned. Many obstacles are to blame as well as different opinions on the situation. Jane and her sister Elizabeth both have found suitable husbands to marry, but not for money or a title just because they have actual true feelings something the society did not look highly upon back then in the 1800s. But many factors play a part in the how everything plays out. Both Darcy and Mr. Bingley leave Netherfield and return to the city of London. Leaving the girls broken hearted and unsure of why they would just leave. This is where judgemental people come into the picture and cause complications and are the reason for both gentleman leaving. Despite all of this commotion the girls still hold on to hope that they will return.

Bookworm Tendancies Continued........

I do not really see any connections to the book I am reading for fun, and the texts I am reading in the class except the fact that this is for marks. To read any book out of school is more of a treat for myself and I do enjoy getting to do so. I am a very busy person and have little time to actually enjoy certain hobbies of mine, one of which is reading. To read the book now is something I am really excited about, because I really enjoy a enticing book with a love story. So far the book has shown me how back in the early 19th century when woman were kind of pushed to find suitable men to marry for financial security but the men being picky on the woman they want to marry. As the story progresses the woman of the Bennett household slowly find men that are suitable love interests.

Besides that this is a book I have truly wanted to read myself for quite sometime just never got around to it, some of my friends who have read it have told me what a great book it is. I actually would not mind watching the movie as well just to see how alike it is with the novel itself. I am extremely excited to find out just how awesome this book will be. So far it is an intriguing story with love, heart ache and misjudgment.
